Overcast weather is truly one of my favorite times to shoot—the soft, diffused light creates dreamy and moody photos that often can’t be replicated with any other weather.

If you wake up to rain on your wedding day, don’t panic—we’re here to tell you that there are some major bright sides to overcast, wet weather. According to many cultures, rain is good luck on your wedding day, a symbol of cleansing and fertility for the newly wed couple. It’s also thought that rain symbolizes the last tears the bride will shed for the rest of her life.

But perhaps the biggest blessing of a rainy wedding day is that it produces the best lighting for photos. Take this gorgeous elopement shoot from Liv + Remember Creative Company, which gives off mercurial, romantic and organic vibes all at once.

“Overcast weather is truly one of my favorite times to shoot—the soft, diffused light creates dreamy and moody photos that often can’t be replicated with any other weather,” says owner and lead photographer Olivia Simon. “The different weather elements (even rain) encourage me to allow nature to be a big collaborator in the creative process. Embrace whatever weather is on the radar for your session; rain or shine, it will be worth it!”

So no matter what your special day has in store for you, focus on your love, and remember that nothing can rain on your parade.
